When the team at Never Never Land compound hears news that the
United
Frank Parker (Jonathan LaPaglia) secretly dismantles a security
camera and electric door in an attempt to sneak out of the compound.
When he hears Nate Ramsey (Nick Searcy) and Craig Donovan (Don Franklin)
coming down the hall he makes it back to his room just before they
enter. Parker sits and reads a book looking innocent, when Donovan
hands him his new orders. He is being sent to a Wilderness survival
training course for six days to heighten his senses and skills.
Inside the U.S. Army Research Institute for Infectious Diseases,
Dr. Forsythe (Thomas Kopache) in his bio hazard suit realizes a
vial of AMutated Ebola Virus y/550" is missing from the lab and
has a heart attack. A researcher notices him on the floor. He grabs
a bio hazard suit and tries to save the scientist. Forsythe manages
to tell him about the missing vial right before he dies from the
deadly virus. Meanwhile, Poe (Garret Dillahunt), a young researcher,
calmly leaves the building with the vial carefully hidden inside
of his walkman.
At the same time, a helicopter drops Parker off in the middle of
nowhere. Two Men-in-Black (MIB) emerge from the tree line and tell
Parker they are assigned to watch over him. Parker laughs it off
and runs into the woods. Later, Parker traps the MIB's in a vine
snare and Parker takes off as they helplessly hang upside down.
Agent Drake (Bruce Wright) arrives at Poe's apartment for routine
questioning regarding the missing vial. Drake senses something wrong
as he walks into the kitchen and sees the walls decorated with ripped
pages from the bible, caricature drawings of biblical scenarios
and bible quotes written on the walls. Drake draws his gun, but
it's too late, Poe stabs him in the back with a knife.
Later that day, Poe sits in Alice's Truck Stop Diner with the
vial in his pocket. He pulls it out and blows over the top of the
vial so the killer virus molecules spread through the air infecting
four truckers sitting at a near by table.
The chopper picks up Parker two-days early informing him there
is a stage five emergency. Parker is given an anti-viral suit and
flown back to headquarters. The virus has spread rapidly, killing
hundreds of people. As Parker enters the compound he finds Donovan,
Mentnor (Norman Lloyd), Talmadge (Alan Scarfe), Ramsey and Ballard
(Sam Whipple) are all dead. Olga (Justina Vail), barely clinging
to life, is relieved to see him. As she hits the launch button to
send him back to correct this cataclysmic event, Parker watches
her die.
The sphere lands in the middle of a re-enactment of the battle
of Gettysburg. Thinking that the sphere miscalculated, Parker tackles
a soldier, asks him where he is. The soldier (Lawrence Turner) informs
him Gettysburg, and gives him a strange look. Parker then notices
a tear in his suit. He begins to panic when he doesn't remember
if it happened before he left the virus infected future.
Parker goes to the phone and calls headquarters to inform them
of this horrible man-made virus. He doesn't have much information
to go on because everybody at ABack-step died before they could
give him any specific details. This leaves Parker with a dilemma...
he doesn't know where the virus came from, or who stole it.
Parker's first stop is the bio weapons plant in Maryland where
Olga is assigned to meet him. As they arrive, Poe is in the process
of taking the virus vial. Hargrove greets them and proceeds to deny
that such a virus exists. Dr. Forsythe enters and confirms what
they already knew, the Atop secret virus does exist. Everyone dresses
in bio hazard suits before proceeding to the lab. As in the first
scenario, Forsythe opens the drawer and is stunned to see the vial
is missing. He has a heart attack, but this time Parker is there
to revive him.
Poe casually exits the building with the vial and bumps into the
receptionist, Lita (Stacie Mistysyn) as she is getting in her car.
She kindly rejects his offer for dinner and he makes a comment how
this could be the last night of life as she knows it. Finding that
comment very strange, she gets into her car and takes off. After
Poe leaves, she pulls back into the parking lot and tells Parker
and Olga what he said. This gives them a lead.
Parker and Olga meet Poe in the parking lot at the diner and tell
him to freeze. Poe raises the vial while quoting the bible. Parker
starts quoting the bible and shocks Poe. Parker reaches for the
vial and knocks it out of Poe's hand. The vial goes flying and lands
on the ground. To everyone's astonishment the seal is unbroken.
Olga lights a flare and burns the vial, killing the virus inside.
They return the vial back to the plant.
Later that night Parker and Olga get separate rooms in a hotel.
They meet up in the hotel bar to celebrate saving the world once
again. When Olga gets up to powder her nose, Parker sneezes and
notices blood on his hand.. one of the symptoms of the virus. He
is horrified to realize he brought the virus back with him through
the tear in his bio hazard suit. Leaving the hotel in a panic, Parker
tries to find a pay phone to call disease control. Unable to find
a phone, he goes to the Gettysburg battle field and douses himself
in gasoline. Talmadge, Donovan and Olga find him, just in time,
and take him back to the bio hazard plant. The team manages to inject
Parker with an anti-viral serum saving his life and killing the
virus once and for all.
